    General Charter Information:

If you are not familiar to chartering, it is basically a rental. However, Maritime law governs the scope and conditions of these rentals and requires documentation [Charter Agreement] which clearly sets forth the terms and duration. While there are a myriad of various types and combinations of charters; Blue Lagoon Charters offers only two general types.

    Types of Charters:

Over the years many various conflicting labels have been used to designate types of charters. The industry still uses the term bareboat to connote turning a boat over to a charter party without providing a captain or crew. And while there is really nothing bare about our vessels, we will use the term in that context.

    • Bareboat:

A bareboat charter is provided without crew. You may request a qualified captain from our approved list to accompany you during the charter, but compensation must be provided by you to the captain. The vessel will still be equipped with all of the usual and customary installed equipment. Read about bareboat qualifications….

    • Crewed:

A crewed charter will include in the price a captain provided by Blue Lagoon Charters and any possible additional required crew members for the voyage.

    Duration of Charter:

We offer charters by the week, day, or half-day. A weekly charter will include 7 total consecutive days. A Full day charter will normally include 8 hours from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. A half day charter includes 4 hours from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm or from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  We can arrange special hours to accommodate your itinerary.
